Michael E. Marion & Associates Inc. is led by Andy Marion and Mick Marion, managing partners of the firm, who are supported by a seasoned senior staff of highly accomplished professionals.
Andrew J. Marion,
Senior Partner
 
Andrew J. Marion leads Michael E. Marion & Associates’ consulting practice and focuses on senior-level search engagements for clients in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, diagnostics and consumer product sectors. Since joining the firm in 1993, Andy has been instrumental in building the firm’s healthcare practice, leading consulting teams on all engagements. He has been directly responsible for the development of numerous highly successful, long-term client relationships with both Fortune 100 companies as well as smaller specialty pharmaceutical and biotech clients. These have included such organizations as Merck & Co., Johnson & Johnson, Roche/Genentech, Novartis, Astellas, Exelixis, PepsiCo, and Procter & Gamble.
 
Prior to joining Michael E. Marion & Associates, Andy spent several years with Bristol-Myers Squibb in its commercial organization working with key products in the Cardiovascular, CNS and Infectious Disease therapeutic areas.
 
Andy graduated from the University of Delaware with a BA in Political Science. He is active in community affairs, serving as a board member and youth coach for various sports since 2001. Beginning in 2010, he has served as the President of Watchung Hills Pop Warner (WHPW) Little Scholars, part of the National Pop Warner Little Scholars Organization, which is the oldest youth sports organization in the country. This program provides football and cheer to over 200 boys and girls in Somerset County, NJ. Andy has also served as head football coach for over a dozen teams and has coached 4 teams to play at the Pop Warner Super Bowl at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Disneyworld. In 2015, he founded the Challenger Special Needs program at WHPW which provides activities for children with autism and Down syndrome. Andy was recognized for his volunteer work and was the recipient of the 2017 Disability Advocate Award chosen by the Board of Freeholders of Somerset County.
Michael C. Marion,
Senior Partner
 
Michael (Mick) C. Marion leads Michael E. Marion & Associates as the Senior Partner responsible for General Management of the firm, which includes general search process management and leadership of all day-to-day administration, human resources, legal and information technology activities. Since joining in 1995, he also serves as the Chief Financial Officer of the organization, accountable for the firm’s fiscal health and financial reporting.
 
Before joining Michael E. Marion & Associates, Mick spent several years with Conti Enterprises, Inc. He worked within the engineering and estimating division at Conti, where he was responsible for pricing and planning bid specifications on various federal and state-level projects.
 
Mick graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Studies from SUNY, ESF – Syracuse University in 1989. He has long been active in community affairs and is currently an elected Township Committeeman in Warren, New Jersey, recently serving as Deputy Mayor (2014) and Mayor (2015). In this capacity, current responsibilities include oversight of the township’s AAA bond-rated budget, finances, and planning along with acting as liaison with the local businesses, township schools, recreation and environmental committees. Mick is currently serving as Co-President of Hills Lacrosse club. Past executive board roles have included fundraising for the Lord Stirling School for Disadvantaged Children and acting as Treasurer of the Watchung Hills Pop Warner Little Scholars part of the National Pop Warner Little Scholars Organization. He also devotes his time as a football and lacrosse coach in local youth sports leagues.

Our Senior Team:
John L. Leone, - Senior Vice President
Mr. Leone has been responsible for a broad range of research, information management, recruiting, candidate development, project execution, business development, and accounts management activity during his tenure with Michael E. Marion & Associates. Now more than 18 years with the firm, John has completed numerous recruiting assignments nationally within the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors spanning commercial, R&D and corporate functions.

Prior to joining MEM, John was the Managing Director of Cogent Financial Associates, a diversified commercial finance and business consulting organization focusing primarily on the asset-based capital funding needs of companies in the small- to mid-sized business sector.  He specialized in the structuring of cash flow-related financings for operating capital and other capital applications.

John also has more than eight years of international business consultation experience with Kline & Company, a major and widely recognized participant in the industrial consulting categories.  He was responsible for management and growth of a strategic consulting practice in the polymers, materials and related chemical process industries.

John began his career with National Starch & Chemical Corporation, where he led a project group designated for long-range development of innovative specialty chemical products servicing the paper, energy and chemicals industries.

John received his MBA/Finance & Marketing from Rutgers University and holds a BS/ChE-Chem. from Lehigh University.
Ellen Gudewill, - Vice President
Ellen Gudewill has over 25 years of commercial experience leading both US and Global brands and business franchises at major, multi-national biopharmaceutical companies. Most recently she was the worldwide commercial head leading the launch of a new franchise for hospital-based products in acute heart failure within the Global Cardio-metabolic division at Novartis.

Prior to joining Novartis in 2016, Ellen spent over 11 years at Sanofi where she was VP Marketing in the Cardiovascular BU leading the US launch of Multaq for atrial fibrillation and VP Marketing in the Internal Medicine BU where she led the osteoporosis franchise (Actonel). Additionally, Ellen spent 2 years leading life-cycle planning and portfolio strategy for the diabetes franchise and 3 years heading launch readiness for Praluent and Kevzara across the Public Affairs functions.

Other executive leadership positions include working as VP, Head of Commercial Operations at The Medicines Company where she provided commercial leadership for a portfolio of acute care CV hospital products in the US and globally.  Additionally, Ellen was the VP for the US & Global Hospital Business at Pfizer (Pharmacia) leading major brands, Zyvox an Fragmin.   Prior to Pharmacia, Ellen held marketing positions of increasing responsibility at Boehringer Ingelheim in CV, CNS and Critical Care where she led the launch of Mirapex and Aggrenox.  Additionally, Ellen was responsible for the development of the early commercial strategy for Pradaxa and Mobic and strategic planning of two launches for phase III hospital-based products in acute stroke.

Ellen started her career in R&D and transitioned to Sales at Roche with additional experience in Business Development and Public Affairs. She has led the successful execution of 5 commercial product launches in her various marketing roles. Ellen has a MS degree in Hematology from the Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences and a BS in Medical Laboratory Science from SUNY Stony Brook.
Diane Romanick, - Director of Operations
Diane joined Michael E. Marion & Associates Inc. in 2003 with 17+ years of corporate administrative experience and is responsible for a variety of functions including management of search project submissions, contract review & implementation process, client/candidate scheduling coordination and management of all administrative support staff.

Prior to joining MEM, Diane began her career with The Prudential Insurance Company of America, where she held roles of increasing responsibility supporting executives and officers of the company in areas such as audit, compliance, investigations, individual insurance, demutualization in addition to providing support to committee meetings of the Board of Directors.

Diane received her AAS degree from Middlesex County College and is also a certified Paralegal.
